I’m sure others will laugh and say it’s funny she’s doing this or that she’s fallen off. Of course, I knew a few negative Nancy’s would make it sound worse than what it truly is and make the situation just a whole debacle. But for me, I see this as a positive side and I will explain why below. Of course, I sat and the 49-minute video of it and as a person who watches porn not just for the feels but the aesthetic feature, I was truly pleased with it overall.
First and foremost, Young Ma became the 1st mainstream artist to break the barrier and dive into the realm of directing and writing porn videos. That alone was amazing as seeing many artists break into either the movie business either by writing, directing, or acting, and in some cases become authors of their own books. For Young Ma to take a left field into something society continues to shame on a daily basis, many props to her for doing it and not worrying about how others perceive it or spin it in the media. Secondly, for her to do as she pleased and having full artistic control over her project leads to why I feel this was just as equally amazing.
Many of us in the LGBTQ community sometimes complain about the lack of representation featured in porn videos. As women who identify as lesbians, we all know the struggles of trying to stumble across at least a realistic video just to enjoy, even if we have to skip through a damn 30-minute video to enjoy 2 minutes of it then turn it off. Or, if you’re like me, I happen to just wonder in amazement who approved for some of the things that are done in the video. Yet, as a factor of the disappointing videos, we know that majority of them are directed/written by men for the male audience in general. They aren’t truly written/directed for women who happen to be lesbians or for the enjoyment of women audience in general. So, with Young MA having full artistic control over the project and her being someone who is part of the community, this just proved to be something worthwhile watching and giving major kudos to. The Gift is an ongoing series which is tailored to pay attention to a lacking audience, which is the women audience in general. Just watching the video and enjoying the overall pleasures and aesthetic values of it, it provided something that has been overlooked in many porn videos in the past years: realism. There are minimal women directors/writers who make porn as realistic as possible and some of their videos I truly enjoy. Young MA is someone we can look forward to in her creation of videos that are pleasing in nature, realistic, and out to target an audience that many overlook because they feel women couldn’t possibly enjoy porn just as much as our male counterparts. They are wrong in this very thought. We want to enjoy it just as much as the next and would love to see a true representation of ourselves. I do not simply mean just the sexual orientation aspect. No! We want to see true representation in our looks, in certain fantasies, the whole realm. Sex isn’t just for one gender, one orientation, or one specific look. With this series, I am glad true representation is being made not just for the audience, but by a member of the community themselves.

I wanted it to be authentic and genuine to who I am,” Young M.A. said, “I’m confident that the final product is something everyone can enjoy.”
With that being said, I will be sure to continue to watch and support her project that is full of realism, her artistic control and creativity, and plus, the sexy aesthetic and pleasurable vibes I get from it. Of course, I am here for the sex positivity and removing that stigma society places upon having a healthy sexual lifestyle.
